This annual conference was previously held at the EPC in 2023, and we were delighted to host it again this year. Our central location and excellent audio-visual capabilities made it ideal for all guests. This year's workshop drew over 100 participants, including vendors and presenters. Remote FOG Management speakers joined from as far as Texas, Kansas, and Washington D.C. 

Local presenters included City of Tampa FOG staff, who discussed the growing issue of food trucks improperly disposing of FOG. A highlight of the workshop was a presentation by Dr. Marie Kroeger of In-Pipe Technology, who shared about innovative approaches to diagnosing sewer system issues caused by excessive FOG and using microbial blends to reduce FOG concentrations. The science was interesting and is showing promising results across municipalities nationwide. 

The proper containment and disposal of FOG is a necessary business that if left unmanaged often leads to concerns for municipal stormwater and wastewater sewers. Hardened grease is a leading source of utility line clogs and sewer overflows. Remember, you can help make a difference by following the County's Cooking Oil Recycling Effort (CORE) Program.
