Assessment & Development Reviews
The Division permits activities within wetlands and other surface waters located within Hillsborough County, City of Tampa, City of Temple Terrace and City of Plant City. In addition, EPC is a commenting agency for Hillsborough County Development Services, City of Tampa, City of Temple Terrace, or City of Plant City for development projects that involve wetlands and other surface waters. Please contact these agencies directly for specific permit application information.

Main functions of the Wetlands Assessment and Development review section are:

• Delineation (identify boundary) of wetlands and other surface waters

• Permitting of wetland and other surface water impacts requiring mitigation

• Permitting minor structures within wetlands and other surface waters such as docks, boardwalks, boat     lifts, boat ramps, shoreline stabilization, maintenance dredging, etc.

- These activities are authorized through a Miscellaneous Activities in Wetlands (MAIW) permit.

- If these activities are proposed under EPC's Tampa Port Authority delegation within tidally
influenced water, Lake Thonotosassa and Keystone, the Hillsborough River, Little Manatee River,
and Alafia River at or under mean/ordinary high water levels for a minor work permit will be required
in lieu of a MAIW permit.

• Permitting vegetation removal within wetlands/other surface water areas through MAIW review

- Removal of nuisance/exotic aquatic or shoreline vegetation

- Mulched paths, trimming, maintenance, and/or removal of native plants

• Mangrove trimming

• Review and provide comments to the municipalities on land development applications such as zoning,       construction plans, and plats for developments in, on, or adjacent to wetland or other surface waters       and their setbacks
