Public Records Requests

The Environmental Protection Commission (EPC), as a political subdivision of the State of Florida, is required to comply with the Public Records Law, Chapter 119, F.S.

Public Records, as defined by Section 119.011(12), F.S. , that are not exempt by law, are available to the public for inspection at the EPC office at any reasonable time, under reasonable conditions, and under supervision of the custodian of the records.

Records will be made available for inspection during normal business hours, between 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. Monday through Friday.  Although it is not necessary to make an appointment to inspect files, we highly recommend that you do so.  Scheduling an appointment will help to ensure the records will be available when you arrive and that staff will be available to fulfill the statutory supervisory requirement.  To facilitate requests regarding a specific property, please provide to the EPC the physical address and folio number for the subject property.  Additional information such as the project or property owner name, or the facility is helpful.

Copies of public records shall be furnished upon payment of the fee prescribed by law (Section 119.07, F.S.).  For detailed information regarding the costs assessed for reproduction of records, please contact the Legal Department at (813) 627-2600 extension 1054.

If you would like to inspect a specific file/record and you know what Division has custody of the file, you may contact the records coordinator in that Division to arrange a convenient time to inspect the file/record.
